The long-awaited Steam Deck is finally coming—time to complete your pre-orders and get the console.
After a substantial delay, Valve’s Steam Deck is finally being released on February 25, 2022. According to Steam’s latest blog post, customers who have reserved a Steam Deck will have three days to complete their purchase from the date of their order.
If customers aren’t quick enough, the next person in the queue will take their place, and so on. From February 28, the first batch of Steam Decks will be shipped out with new orders going out every week.
What to Do if You’ve Pre-Ordered a Steam Deck
If you placed a pre-order for the Steam Deck, you can sit tight and wait until the 25th. From 10:00 AM PST, you can expect an invitation via email, but emails will be sent out in the order that reservations were made.
Customers cannot change the model of the Steam Deck they have pre-ordered, so if you’ve changed your mind, it’s back into the queue I’m afraid.
We will start sending invites shortly after 10:00 am on February 25th, PST.
Order emails are sent in the same order that reservations were made.
You can only order the Steam Deck model that you originally reserved.
Your reservation deposit will be applied to the final price of Steam Deck, and shipping costs are included.
Can You Still Get a Steam Deck if You Haven’t Pre-Ordered?
While you can still place an order for a Steam Deck before its release, customers are being warned they shouldn’t expect to receive their orders until after Q2 2022.
To reserve a Steam Deck, customers will need to pay a $5 deposit through Steam’s shopping cart.
There are three versions of the Steam Deck available, including the base model 64GB version at $399, 256GB NVMe SSD at $529, and 512GB NVMe SSD at $649.
What to Do if You Change Your Mind
The cost of the deposit ($5) when placing an order for a Steam Deck goes toward the total cost. However, if you’ve changed your mind and want to cancel your order, the deposit will be refunded.
Currently, the Steam Deck is only available to customers who live in the US, Canada, UK, and EU.
Time Is Nigh
There’s no anticipation that the Steam Deck will become available to purchase in physical stores, so if you want to get your hands on Valve’s console, now is the time to do it.
Although Q2 2022 might not seem that far away, that date will no doubt have room for movement, especially if there’s an influx of orders now from customers who haven’t already pre-ordered.
