Presently, with the advancements of the IT sector in India, the government is taking several initiatives for data science education
The Indian Government has been quite active in taking initiatives to enhance big data education among the Indian youth and tech professionals. Currently, big data is playing a crucial role in leading organizations towards a more tech-driven future. Data analytics comprises a wide variety of tech branches with challenges in database management, database warehousing, and data mining research. Currently, with the advancements of the IT sector in India, the government is taking several initiatives to bridge the skill gap in the country and build a bright future for the tech enthusiasts of the country. In the recent Union Budget 2022, the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized taking up various initiatives this year in 2022 to focus on the digital education of the children. The PM e-VIDYA initiative proposes to launch a digital university so that education never stops for Indian students.
In the past few years, The Ministry of Science and Technology under the Big Data Initiatives Division has taken up a Big Data Initiatives Programme, under which financial aid will be provided to support the research and development of big data across India. Financial aid has also been provided to support and establish the Center for Excellence in big data analytics, predictive technologies, cybersecurity, and others. Additionally, the programme also supports national-level conferences/workshops/seminars/brainstorming sessions and other initiatives financially to support the in-house programmes for the faculty and UG/PG/doctoral students. The program focuses on enhancing the 5Vs i.e. volume, velocity, variety, value, and veracity of big data education amongst Indian students.
In 2016, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India initiated the Centre for Data Management and Analytics (CDMA) for synthesizing and integrating relevant data for the auditing process.Â
There are many such initiatives that prove India has been one of the forefront countries that understand the present status of the industry in terms of market size and different players, opportunities, and such other factors to initiate successful programs and help students excel in their big data careers.Â
