Salman Rushdie, a well-known author whose controversial works have triggered death threats, was stabbed on Friday had rejected any previous security recommendations.
According to New York state police, Rushdie, 75 years old, was stabbed at minimum twice at the Chautauqua institution before he was scheduled to deliver a lecture
According to a Pennsylvania police official, Rushdie was flown to a hospital in Northwestern Pennsylvania for surgery.
His agent Andrew Wylie told The New York Times that Rushdie was placed on a ventilator later in the day and was unable speak.
Wylie stated that he will probably lose one eye. Wylie stated that his nerves were severed in his arm and that his liver had been stabbed and severely damaged. It is not good news.
The suspect was quickly taken into custody and state police stated that authorities are currently trying to determine the motives and the charges.
