Not many teenagers take the chance to become an exchange student in high school, but if you do, your life will never be the same, and it will never have to be like this again. Not many students leap high school – or even into school.
As a result, one cannot expect to use an exchange program to become a regular student or graduate from a U.S. secondary school.
You will, however, have a better experience as an exchange student, and your host family will appreciate you more if you at least make an effort to speak the language. If you still doubt becoming an exchange student, talk to other students who have already had this experience, especially those who have not.

How To Become A Foreign Exchange Student In High School
If you agree to participate in a semester or academic year abroad in a high school, talk to your counsellor (and possibly your teacher) before participating in learning more about how this affects your graduation requirements. Some grades are better for studying abroad than others (some require a 3.0 GPA, others a 2.2), and many programs are open to high school students throughout the year. Any foreign exchange student attending a Florida school for the first time must present the general registration certificate required by the student to the student office. On February 15th of each school year, the high school will report to a Student Service Center the number of exchange students who have been accepted into the following school years.
